The New Snack You Need To Try - Chicken Crackling Review & Giveaway*

I am pretty much addicted to anything savoury. Whether it's crisps, breads, crackers, random snack mixes, each day you can guarantee I'll get a craving for something savoury so I like to have a variety of things in ready for when that moment hits. Recently I received something new to try from Chicken Crackling and I've been putting them to the test for a few weeks now so I thought it was about time I shared my review. I even have a little giveaway at the end too!

I know you're probably thinking, chicken crackling? That's a bit different. And it is, but boy is it good. I used to be a BIG fan of pork crackling but it's something I never ever think to buy anymore so I've loved having these to snack on recently as it's felt like a real treat. Chicken Crackling is the first of its kind to hit the UK which is why you might not have spotted these around before. They are a healthier alternative to pork scratching though, they're lower in fat, higher in protein, and are gluten and MSG-free. This makes them great if you're trying to eat a bit healthier but still want the odd indulgent treat every so often, or perfect for a Keto diet too. There are two flavours currently available to choose from - Sea Salt, and Hint Of Habanero Chilli.

Sea Salt Chicken Crackling*

Let's start with the Sea Salt flavour as that's the one that first caught my eye. First of all, they look pretty much identical to pork scratchings. They also had that distinct meaty smell as soon as I opened the packet and they were incredibly inviting. Onto the taste which is the most important thing - I loved it! Salty but the perfect amount, crunchy but it's not going to break your teeth and actually quite filling for a small bag.

Hint Of Habanero Chilli Chicken Crackling*

I love anything with a bit of spice so I was really intrigued by the Hint Of Habanero flavour and just how hot they would be. Like the Sea Salt, they look exactly like pork scratchings and I couldn't wait to dig in. It took me a few seconds to notice the spice so it's definitely not overpowering which is great. I found they left a subtle heat afterwards so perfect if you like a bit of spice but don't want it to blow your head off!

So out of the two flavours, which would I choose? Probably the Sea Salt but both are so tasty. These have been such a handy snack to have in over the last few weeks and I've still got many left to get through which pleases me greatly! As I've already said these are low in fat, gluten free etc which you might not expect from a snack like this but they also have no artificial flavour or colouring and they are hand cooked in the UK in specialised kitchens making them Halal friendly too. These are currently available to buy on Amazon and are priced at £10.50 for 10 30g bags. Whilst they make a brilliant afternoon snack, they can also be used as a salad topping or maybe you could add them to your soup instead of croutons? There are lots of ideas so definitely worth picking up if you get chance!
