3 Things On My London Bucket List

I've spoken about my love for London many, many times on my blog before. I am so at home in the city and whenever we get back from a trip, I'm always planning for the next one. We've had countless visits now so there have been lots of walks along the Southbank, many a Christmas market visited, several amazing musicals and generally we've seen a lot of the sights, but there are still quite a few things left on my London bucketlist. I've narrowed it down to 3 things that I'm hoping to get ticked off in our next few visits, but let me know if there is anything else you think we need to do!
The London Eye

Go On The London Eye

The majority of the time when we visit London, we stay at a hotel literally next to the London Eye, I don't think we could get any closer if we tried but we are still yet to actually go on it. It's getting to the point now where I'll happily go on it by myself if I get chance as I imagine the views are incredible and it's one thing I can't believe we haven't found time for yet. It can be quite expensive so I think it would be nice to get one of the combination tickets so we can also do the river cruise too, that way we can take all of the sights in. I think this would be perfect in the summer when hopefully the weather is a bit better!

Visit The Clink Prison Museum

I first spotted this years ago on one of our first trips to London, it's just around the corner from Borough Market (one of my favourite places, the food is insane) and it's something I keep meaning to book. I'm hopeful we'll get chance to do this when we're back next month and I'm so excited. I'm weird, I'm fascinated by prisons. The Clink Prison is one of England's oldest and most notorious prisons and this is built on the original site so this is right up my street. I actually really love a museum so I was thrilled when I first spotted this.

Take In The View From The Sky Garden

Apart from The London Eye, there are several buildings you can visit to take in the view of the city, one of those being the Sky Garden at the 'Walkie Talkie' building. This is a unique public space which spans three storeys, giving you 360 degree uninterrupted views across London. It's a perfect place to chill for an hour or so and see the city in all its glory. The best thing, it's completely free too!

It's not long until our next visit so I'm already starting to plan! If you've done any of these things before, I'd love to hear about it!

Do you have any city breaks planned for 2019?

  2. I never knew about that prison but it sounds utterly fascinating! I've been on the London Eye a few times. I've done more or less all of your standard "tourist" things in London as I only live 20 mins away and have done all my life. It's nice to see some different things on this list!

  4. I've never actually been to London, it's not somewhere I've ever wanted to go. Mostly due to anxiety and now I'm housebound so yeah, lol There are some really good places to visit though. I'm just not good with lots of people. :)

  6. I have never been to London, so I can't give you any advice but the London Eye definitely does seem like something you should do!
This year I would like to take a cruise to Oslo. I've been wanting to go to Oslo ever since I moved to Denmark, and there's a cruise from Copenhagen!

  9. The Eye is cool, but no need to do more than once. I much prefer Sky Garden. Even though it's free, you have to be quick with booking! I think their bookings open every week on Monday mornings and fill up fast. I finally got on when I booked during a weekday!

  11. The London Eye I think is one of those things you have to do but if I'm totally honest I didn't think it was worth the money

The skygarden however I highly recommend to add to the top of your list! You get such amazing views of so many different landmarks, the gardens themselves are beautiful and they have delicious cake!
