Body Beautiful - Lucy Mecklenburgh...

I am always a bit sceptical when it comes to celebrity fitness dvds, they all do the same thing and they're all just trying to make some extra money, in my opinion. The only one I would be really interested in buying is Charlotte Crosbys (from Geordie Shore) as she seems to have done really well and she looks amazing, Davinas' are also great too. I saw this book Body Beautiful by Lucy Mecklenburgh a few months ago and as I wanted to start eating better and exercising more I thought I would give this a go and the concept of a book about this, rather than a dvd was interesting. A lot of people might think she doesn't know anything about exercise or health and because she was on TOWIE and then went straight into this, a lot of people might be put off but I have been surprised by how good it is!
I have followed her on Twitter for ages and it looks like shes always been interested in this and she herself lost some weight and changed her lifestyle. She's really stuck to it! She also set up her own business Results with Lucy which seems to be constantly growing in popularity.

I get this book out every so often and have a read, its one that you can just dip in and out of as there are so many different chapters about so many different things. Their is a section all about the foods your body needs, why certain things are good for you and why other things aren't. Simple exercise routines which are easy to follow are also included, there is one to follow if you're at home which I have done a few times and actually really enjoy. There is one for you to do at the park too if you prefer to exercise outside. Lucy also talks about how to boost your confidence, break bad habits and how to stay motivated. It's also full of recipes!

If you are looking to improve your diet or introduce some exercise then I really recommend this book. I am someone who really struggles to find motivation to exercise, eating well isn't as much of a problem, but with both of these, this book can help.

Have you got Lucys book? What do you think?

Turning a bad day into a good day...

I'm someone who has bad days quite a lot. I can be so stressy and mardy and sometimes i'm just angry or sad for no reason, my anxiety plays a big part in this. When my anxiety is bad, my mood is bad. I've mentioned before that I go through phases with it and when its good, i'm fine but i'm generally a stressy person anyway, some people just are but anxiety really makes things 10x worse. Even when I am having a bad day though, I try to find one or two things which will cheer me up and hopefully make a bad day, good.

1. Bubble Baths - I think everyone knows that a bubble bath can make everything better. I love to use something from Lush aswell as some stress relief Radox and I like to light a few candles and just lay back and relax. Sometimes I watch some youtube videos or go on my Instagram and twitter.

2. Read a Book - I love reading, its liking stepping into somebody elses life for a while and I just relax. I don't have to think about myself or anybody else for a while, it cheesy but you really can just escape when you read a book. I love magazines too but thats just for all the celeb gossip!

3. Go for a walk - I find that going for a walk can really help clear my mind and calm down. I love being outside and actually even when it's raining I love it.

4. Have a nap - I love naps, sometimes when I am really stressed if I lay down, I just drift off for a while and I wake up in a better mood.

5. Do something you love - This could be absolutely anything. For me, it's baking. I love baking and cooking and I try to bake once a week because I see it as 'me time' and it just relaxes me.

Date Day & Superdrug, Lush, The Body Shop & New Look Haul...

Yesterday me and George went to Meadowhall for some shopping and some food for Date Day, can't really call it date night when it was in the middle of the afternoon. I left with some really good things, most of which were at a really good price or on offer luckily! I got things from Lush, The Body Shop, New Look and Superdrug.

From Lush I got one thing, the Brightside Bubble Bar. I normally prefer Bath Bombs from Lush but I just wasn't as bothered this time for some reason, I have used quite a few over the last few months though. I love the Comforter Bubble Bar so I was torn but I went for the Brightside one instead, i'll get the comforter next time! After Lush we went to The Body Shop, I saw their green tea range at the entrance and I really wanted to have a look at it. It smells so good! I'll have to try it at some point, I also had a little look at the new Mojito range which I really want to get when it's out, that was amazing! I ran out of my Passion fruit shower gel which was my absolute favourite from the body shop so I needed a new one. I ended up getting the Pink Grapefruit Shower Gel which smells so good, I don't know why I have never got it before! So fresh and sweet. I also got the Strawberry Shower Gel as it was buy one get one half price. Another one I haven't tried before. My loyalty card ran out a while ago so George was very kind and got me a new one and with that I got a free gift which was a cooling and refreshing eye gel.
We then went to Superdrug just get some basics like body sprays, I got an impulse one as their my favourite ones. Though we only went in for a few things I ended up leaving with two nail polishes. I got the Rimmel Hot Tropicana and NYC Gel Gloss Haute Couture. I think both colours are great for summer.
Before we left Meadowhall I went to Dorothy Perkins quickly as I needed some new sandals and I managed to pick some up for only £9. They feel so comfy and look good with jeans or trousers.

Before we went shopping we went to Harvester, it's become our favourite over the last few months, the foods just so good. We started with Nachos which were gone before I could take a picture! Bad blogger. I had the Salsa Chicken and Pepper Stack with Jacket Potato and George got Pork and Chorizo Burger with Chips. I need to get that next time we go, it was amazing! Mine was good but seriously if you go to Harvester, try the pork burger. For dessert we had the Strawberries and Cream Pot which is vanilla cheesecake in a little glass pot, with cream and strawberry compote, also two shortbread fingers. I love cheesecake so this has become a new favourite!
It was such a lovely date day, the food was amazing and I love everything I bought.

The Best Ever Tiffin Recipe

Tiffin is one of my all time favourite bakes! If you've never tried it before, I always say it's basically Rocky Road without the marshmallows. I actually prefer it though. It's only got a few ingredients in and doesn't take much time so if you're looking for a quick, tasty treat, this is for you!
Tiffin Recipe
110g of butter
2 tablespoons of sugar
2 tablespoons of golden syrup
4 teaspoons of cocoa powder
220g of biscuits, I use digestives
200g of chocolate, half milk, half dark

1. In a saucepan, melt the butter, sugar, golden syrup and cocoa. While this is all melting together, you need to break the biscuits up in a bowl. I normally use a rolling pin, make sure you leave some in quite big chunks, if its all completely broken into crumbs it won't form properly in the tin
2. When everything in the saucepan has melted, add the biscuits in a bit at a time, make sure you keep stirring so everything combines
3. When everything is combined pour into a tin and pat down so it is all spread evenly across it
4. Now you need to melt the dark and milk chocolate. You could do this in a microwave but I normally put it into a glass bowl and put that on top of a pan of boiling water. When everything is starting to melt, I turn the heat off and keep stirring
5. When the chocolate has cooled a little, pour over the mixture in the tin and spread evenly
6. I then put it in the fridge for 1-2 hours
7. When chilled and the chocolate has set, you can cut into pieces and enjoy!

Let me know if you make this, it really is one of the most delicious treats!

Ozeri WeightMaster Digital Scales*

Over the last few months I have been putting in a lot of effort into losing weight and following Slimming World. I do go off the rails a little bit sometimes but this is the most motivated I have been in a long time. When I was asked to review the Ozeri WeightMaster Bathroom Scales I was thrilled because my usual weighing scales are on their last legs and really weren't very accurate anymore and as I am currently trying to be a bit healthier I thought this was great timing!
I needed a good set of scales which would give me an accurate weight every week and this one is perfect. It Displays your BMI, current weight and it also changes colour depending on whether you've gained or lost weight. Red for a gain and green for a loss. Something I really love about these scales is that more than one person can use it and it will keep track of each persons weight. It doesn't need to be reset and there is no messing around. You don't need to do anything so it can differentiate between each person, it just does this by your weight. This means both me and George can use it and the scales just automatically know which one of us it is using it.

When you stand on the scales it clearly gives you your weight in kg or you can have it so you can see what it is in pounds, I haven't managed to change this so I can see it in stones, I don't think this is possible on these scales which is a bit disappointing but all I do then is google what the pounds converts into stones. It takes seconds so its no real issue.
Theses scales have replaced my previous ones and I can't see myself using any others, I just trust the Ozeri Scales and believe every week that it is giving the correct numbers!

If you want to try these scales, they are available on Amazon and are currently £29.99 instead of £69.99!

* I was sent the product to review on Amazon, I chose to feature it on my blog and as always all words are my own and I wouldn't feature something unless it was relevant to me and my blog

Collection Lasting Gel Nail Polish...

I have been wearing the Collection Nail Polish Lasting Gel in Almost Nude for a while now and I had to do a blog post on it as I love it so much.
In short it is just the perfect nude. It looks good on the nails and it lasts a long time.

It goes on so well, the brush coats the nail in one go, it glides on evenly and it dries really quickly. I love the way it looks. It looks like you have had a gel manicure and I don't think you would need to apply a top coat unless you really wanted too, though I always do. I use the Barry M base coat, top coat and nail hardener.

Collection have a whole selection of colours in this gel range, I also have it in the shade Antique Rose which I would say is a pink nude and one which I will be wearing this summer! I can't wait to get more.

Do you like any of the Collection nail polishes?

Ikea, Matalan and Asda Homeware Wishlist...

I've been a bit stuck for ideas with my blog over the last few days so I thought I would do a wishlist as I have been looking for quite a few bits for the flat. I really, really want to get the bedroom finished and I am determined to get it all done over the next few weeks! Most of the things I have found are on Asda which always has loads of great homeware bits. I also saw one thing in Matalan that I liked and the main piece of furniture is from IKEA. I want the bedroom to be pastel themed with creams and silver which I think all goes together quite well.

The main thing I want is the Herefoss Chest of 3 drawers from IKEA. We already have some drawers and a wardrobe in the bedroom but we still have so many clothes and they need to go somewhere. Those were already in the flat when we moved in so we need to pick something that goes with them and I think the herefoss drawers are great. I love the colour and style of them. To go on top of these drawers we already have a clock which we got from Wilkinsons ages ago and I want to get a candle holder like this Vintage Birdcage one from Matalan. Something else I like for the top of the drawers is Love sign from Asda which I think matches with the candle holder. I think the mix of silver, wood and cream looks really good together.
I found loads more from Asda as well as the sign above. We really need a lampshade and I love this Ball Pendant Light, it's so pretty and goes exactly with the theme I want.  For the window I want to get a small vase with some fake flowers in, that way they look pretty all year round! My favourite is this white vase with flowers for £12 which is so simple but again very pretty. To go with that I want to get some more candles, I like this tealight holder, its different to anything else we have in the flat.
On my bedside table I have a picture in a black photo frame and as nice as the frame is, it isn't going to go with the rest of the room so I want to get a plain, silver one like this one. It is only £4 which I think is really good. The last thing I saw on Asda which I probably don't need is their Crochet Trim Floral Duvet. I love the crochet trim all the way round it and the colour is just so nice. On the picture it looks so cosy, I just want to crawl into bed!
The last place I looked was Argos where I found some lamps which I have been wanting for months! We both need a bedside lamp and they actually have a pair of touch lamps on offer for only £11.99 at the moment which I think is a great price! I'm not sure what colour to get yet, either Mocha or Cream. They're both nice!

Do you like anything on this wishlist? Whats your go to shop for homeware?

Deliciously Ella...

I have been wanting to get this book for a few weeks now. I have seen countless amounts of bloggers and people I follow on Instagram with it and it just looks so good.
I'm not sure how the meals and recipes would adapt to Slimming World as that is the plan I am following at the moment. But saying that, this book is about food that your body needs and foods that you should be eating. Aswell as following a plan to help with weight loss, I also want to make sure I am eating the right foods and generally living a healthier lifestyle and I think this is the perfect book to use to help me with that.

There are so many things I want to make already, the almond butter fudge sounds amazing! Also the black bean chilli is a must to try and the homemade baked beans with giant hash browns sounds too good.

I'll hopefully get my hands on this book soon, I have heard so many great things about it, have you got this book? What do you think? I would love to know if it's worth buying.

James Bay - Chaos and The Calm...

I have written a few posts about James Bay before, you can see here and here, but thats just because I love his music and when I bought his CD, I knew I wanted to write a blog post on it.
I started listening to him last year when he was mentioned in someones youtube video and I loved his music instantly. I don't think he had a massive following then so it's great to see how big he has become now. His album went to number one which he really really deserved and he won a Brit Award for Critics Choice.

I didn't get the deluxe version as I had already downloaded some of his songs way before his album came out and there was no point paying extra for songs I already had. I don't think anyone could be disappointed by this album, it is just full of amazing songs, all of them could be a hit. I think my favourite is When we were on fire or Scars

Have you got this album? What do you think?

Slimming World Brownies Recipe...

This post probably won't be relevant to you unless you follow Slimming World but if you love baking you could still give these a go as they are generally quite healthy! As I am trying to stick to Slimming World at the moment, I wanted to try some of their baking recipes out. I was a bit sceptical because most of the cake and baking recipes contain lots of eggs and not much else but these turned out okay! I think these are great for a little sweet snack and you don't need too many to fill you up either.

If you don't follow Slimming World you probably won't understand what I mean when I talk about syns but basically you get a daily allowance of syns and you can use them on whatever you want. This recipe makes a lot of brownies, about 25 if they are in small squares and they are about 1/2 a syn each which is great considering you get 15 a day! I wouldn't recommend using all those syns on brownies though!

6 eggs, seperated
70g of sweetener
60g of cocoa
1 tsp vanilla extract

1. First seperate the eggs, I put the yolks in one bowl and the whites in another. Whisk the egg whites, you need to do this for quite a while! Luckily George did most of that while I mixed the rest of the ingredients.
2. Mix the egg yolks, sweetener, cocoa and vanilla until it makes a thick mix.
3. I then added the egg whites a bit at a time. I didn't end up needing it all, only about half.
4. When everything was mixed, I added it to a baking tin and baked in a 180 degree oven for about 25 minutes.
5. When they were done I transferred to a wire rack and cut into small squares.
These can be a little dry so I what I normally do is add a tiny bit of nutella, obviously this comes out of my syns, a teaspoon is 2 syns which really isn't bad. To say their not full of sugar and crap, they taste pretty good!

Another slimming world recipe you might want to read- Keema Curry Pie.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Shampoo & Conditioner...

I have been so impressed by the Garnier Ultimate Blends Shampoo and Conditioner so I had to do a blog post on them.
I got these both recently as part of a Bzzagent Campaign and the only ones left that I could get were The Colour Illuminator ones. I was happy to try anything from the range so I went for these and thought I would just give them ago. Really because they are for coloured hair, I didn't think they would be any good for me, but they really are!

They smell amazing and the day after using them my hair always feels so soft and bouncy. I don't stop touching it! I must admit when I first used the shampoo I was a little disappointed. I had to put on quite a lot for it to lather up and actually cover my hair but after I had done this and washed it out, my hair felt good instantly. I then went onto using the conditioner and wow its amazing. It's the opposite to the shampoo in that with this, I hardly needed any! That never happens with conditioner for me, I go through it so much quicker than shampoo and it becomes quite costly after a while but with this I can see it lasting longer than the shampoo! Amazing.

The reason I haven't picked anything up from the Garnier Ultimate Blends range before is because I just find it a bit too expensive for me. I try to stick to V05 which is normally on a good deal. I think as the colour illuminator ones have been so good, in the future I might try some of the others and invest in my hair care! If you are wanting to try anything from this range, they are available in Superdrug or Boots.

Have you tried the Garnier Ultimate Blends range?

*I got sent these items as part of a Bzzagent campaign. I have included a link to their site on this post if you want more information. I wasn't actually asked to include these on my blog, I chose too because they really are great!

Food I have been loving this week #1

As my blog started out as a food blog, I thought I would go back to that and start doing more posts based around it. I have seen people doing weekly meal plans and grocery hauls but I thought I would do something a little different and just do a blog post every so often on certain foods/meals I have been loving.

Salads - I'm one of those typical people who love the warm, hearty dinners during the winter, but during summer, I just want really fresh food that doesn't involve much fuss. This week I have been having salads most days either for my lunch or as a side with my tea. My salads normally just consist of a few handfuls of lettuce or mixed leaves, normally from Asda. This week we've had the Florette Sweet and Crunchy. I love this one as it has strands of carrots and red cabbage in it. I also normally have some cucumber chopped up and some cherry tomatoes. This week I got some on the vine cherry tomatoes and I don't know what it is, but they just taste so much better. Some days I have been adding some Flame Grilled Chicken Breast and other days I have had pasta or cous cous with it.
Strawberries - Strawberries are just my favourite fruit and I love it when summer starts because that's when they taste really good. I have been having these with some yoghurt and grapes. Some days I have added a Alpen Light broken up too.

Barney Bears - I know these are probably more for kids but when I saw they were on offer at Asda, I had to get them. They're just so nice and a great size. Barney Bears are basically just sponge, filled with a chocolate sauce. I know they do a few other flavours too, I really want to try the milk ones which are chocolate flavoured sponge with a creamy, milk centre.
Curly Fries - These aren't really slimming world friendly but we didn't have time to cook a proper meal from scratch one night so we just had freezer stuff. I love curly fries, they are my favourite but I am going to have to try and have them just on treat nights unfortunately.

Lemon and Limes - We got 1 lemon and 1 lime a few weeks ago and we just cut them up to have in drinks with some ice and it tastes so good! I know it's nothing special and loads of people do it but as we drink juice a lot, its nice to add to it, it just gives it a bit of a twist. I made sure I picked some up this week and I got a mixed pack from Asda for £1 which had two lemons and 2 limes.

What food have you been loving this week?
