Date Night Ideas...

You'll have probably seen in my weekend posts that we try to go on regular date nights, normally at least once a month. I always appreciate when we do date night as we get to spend some proper time together, sometimes work and life can be so busy and stressful and it can be hard to switch off and get away from it, so we always try to do something where we can just relax and have a nice evening. Date Night doesn't have to mean going out though, here are a few of my ideas...
1. Cook for each other - I love it when George cooks for me, its a very rare thing but I always appreciate it when he does and I know he's put some thought into it! I remember one time years ago he made me a menu and I got to choose a starter, main, dessert and drinks and he went out to get everything I chose and he made a lovely meal. I know he put so much thought and effort into it and it felt really special. I cook most nights so I have to admit I don't go all out and do romantic meals a lot of the time but it's definitely something i'm going to do more often. Even just lighting candles or sitting together at the table makes a difference.

2. Movie Night - I love a good movie night, where we pick a few films and just stay up and watch them while eating loads of treats! I like to get a load of chocolate and sweets, crisps and nice drinks and just chill on the sofa with candles on, so cosy and its always nice to get snuggled up together watching a film.

3. Cinema - I love going to the cinema and we've actually been quite a lot recently, its our go to date night idea and we always enjoy it. Our first date was actually at the cinema so its always a bit special whenever we go because here so many years later.

4. Go out for a meal - When we do date night, we normally go to the cinema and then onto a restaurant for a meal afterwards. We normally have a few drinks (prosecco for me) and we go all out with the food. We've been to Frankie and Benny's quite a few times but last time we went to Bella Italia which was so nice, they had lit a candle and it was a really nice atmosphere, we were in a lovely little booth too. I love going out for a meal, its always to just spend that time together and have a good talk.

5. Date Day - We've done a date day quite a few times, it normally involves shopping! and we'll normally go for a nice meal while we're out. I like it when we do something that involves the full day and then when we get home we can relax and watch a film or something like that. I really like the thought of going somewhere different for a date day, I really want to go to a zoo! We're just not really nearby any so its a bit of a difficult one but I would absolutely love it.

21 Things I Want To Achieve...

I thought as I have turned 21 this year I would do some sort of list of things I want to achieve over the next few years, some might not happen for a long time, some require saving quite a bit of money and some are things you just can't plan, but there is so much I want to do and I don't want things to pass me by. I wanted to do a 30 before im 30 list but I did struggle to think of that many things! So a list of 21 things I want to achieve, starting now.
Image from Pinterest
1. Work out what I want to do Career Wise - A few months ago I was offered a permanent job at the place I currently work (im just about to finish my apprenticeship) I've accepted and i'm happy for now but I have been thinking about the future and where I might choose to work. I definitely don't want a full on 'career' I want to focus on having a family but I definitely want to do a job where I can be promoted and 'move up' or at least feel like there is some opportunity for that. I work hard and I want to be working somewhere that appreciates that.
2. Rent a House - I do love our flat but within the next year we definitely want to move and find somewhere a bit bigger where we can settle. I think we've settled on staying here until the end of next year just because we want to focus on a few other things this year.
3. Buy a House - Our next place will hopefully be a house we can rent until we can afford to buy somewhere and we definitely want to aim to buy somewhere before we are 30.
4. Learn to Drive - This isn't really a priority and i'm sure George will do his lessons first and pass but I definitely need to do it at some point, especially for when we have kids.
5. Visit New York - This is something I have wanted to do for years and I know we will, hopefully next year, we just need to save! It seems more and more like it can finally happen now after wanting to do it for years.
6. Get a Tattoo - I have wanted to get one for years but never known what I would want to have, I still don't!
7. Learn German - I feel like as I was born in Germany I should try and learn the language and its somewhere me and George both want to visit, especially at Christmas! We did both start learning a few months ago but gradually stopped so I want to get back into it.
8. Pay off my student debt - I only went to university for a year, well less than that but I do have some debt which I want to pay off as any sort of debt just hangs over you until its gone.
9. Get Married - This is something we really want to do as soon as possible, its definitely a priority and we already have some plans in place! I've mentioned some of our plans on my blog before but I think a lot of it we'll probably keep to ourselves until its happened, I think a lot of people will just find out over social media, it's something we're determined to make just about us, a wedding can easily become about what everyone else wants, but we're so clear that we're doing it our way. I just can't wait.
10. Have a family - This is probably quite an obvious one but in a few years time, we'll hopefully have a baby.
11.Visit Italy - There are so many beautiful places in Italy that we want to visit, we were only saying a few weeks ago it would be good to do one big trip and visit a few places at once.
12. Explore London - We've been to London a few times now and I'm sure we'll keep going back so I really want to visit as many places as possible and see all the things that London has to offer as there really is so much more than just the main attractions that we've already seen and done.
13. Donate to Charity - I definitely don't do enough for charity, and as i'm working for one, I should probably contribute more, I usually donate something to things like Children in Need and Comic Relief as they just get to me and I donate every month to Dogs Trust as I just love dogs but I definitely want to donate more to cancer related charities.
14. Make New Friends - I don't have many friends and I don't have a sister or anyone I could feel I could say i'm close to, so I definitely want to get out there and meet new people.
15. Find a way to cope with my Anxiety - I go through phases with my anxiety, for quite a few months I would say I have been a lot better but recently I've felt it creeping up on me again, i think a lot of it is down to stress and I have felt pretty stressed over the last few weeks. I definitely want to get a hold of it and make some positive changes.
16. Get Better at Saving Money - There are always things we need to save for but once we are settled in a house and have got the bigger things saved for, I just want to get into the routine of putting a bit away each month so if we ever need it or there's an emergency we know we have a backup, or if we decide we want to get away, we'll have already put money aside that we can afford to use.
17. Buy a Mini - I have wanted a mini for years and I am so adamant that I will have one one day, its my dream car!
18. Get better at throwing things away! - I keep way too much, there isn't room for all the stuff we have! Clothes I don't wear anymore, makeup I don't use, needs to be thrown away, I know there is so much stuff in the flat that should have been thrown away or donated to charity ages ago.
19. Start Baking Classes - I'm not sure whats available in my area like this but I love baking and I would love to get really good at it, I do it for the enjoyment but there are definitely some things I wish I was better at and baking is one of them.
20. Apply for Great British Bake Off - This is probably a really crazy one, and I am sure I would never actually get onto the show but I would love to at some point feel like I was actually good enough to apply for it and see what happens.
21. Stick to Slimming World - I don't really want to call it a diet because it doesn't feel like it, I love it when I follow the plan but sometimes I just go off the rails, when im sad or I've had a bad day I tend to turn to chocolate, im sure a lot of people do but I need to get out of that habit and properly stick to the plan because I know it does have amazing results and I would love to get back to feeling properly comfortable and happy.

Have you got a list of things you want to achieve?

April Favourites - The Office, Room and Little Mix...

How are we in May already? This year is going so fast! Another monthly favourites, and i'm quite glad I've actually managed to keep this up every month!

The Office - We watch this most nights, we normally put it on we go to bed and watch a few episodes, its just my favourite. We had a day a few weeks ago where we literally just watched this and nothing else. Every episode is funny and its one of those shows that you can watch over and over and it still makes you laugh.

Aldi Chocolate Orange Rice Cake Bars - I found these in Aldi a few weeks ago and I can't even explain how good they are! I didn't expect much but I found the normal chocolate ones a bit plain so I thought i'd try these and i'm so glad I did, they were only about 70p and they've been great for me to take to work.

Room - I always have to be in the right mood to watch a film, im so fussy and it takes me ages to pick one but I had heard about Room and thought it looked really interesting and the trailer was so tense! So we finally found it online, and it was so much better than I thought it would be, I was hooked all the way through and really wanted them both to get out of there, if you haven't watched it, I really recommend it. I'd definitely watch it again and I need to get the book as I think that will be just as good if not better.

Homemade Hunters Chicken - I love when I try something new and it turns out well and this recipe was one of them. Hunters Chicken is something I pick a lot when we're out in a restaurant but I never really thought to make it myself, I didn't realise how simple it would be. It does take a while, I normally leave it in the oven for around 40 minutes, it just tastes amazing.

Little Mix - Get Weird - I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before in another monthly favourites but even if I have, I don't care, I have just been loving listening to this album over the last few weeks, it's not often I find an album where I like every song but I think I do with this album, my favourites are Hair and Lightening.

Previous Favourites - February - Soap and Glory, New Look and Essie and March - London, Easter Chocolate and Sass and Belle.

Weekend Summary #22 and #23 - Scary Films, Ed's Diner and Date Night...

Last weekend we had Georges brothers over, it went so fast! We had such a good time but all of a sudden they'd gone and the weekend was over, so depressing. We had a really nice time though and went to Ed's Diner on the Saturday, which is always good.

The wet fries there are just amazing, we get them every time! and the maple syrup waffles that me and George shared were insane, I want to go back now for more! George also had a lotus biscoff milkshake which I wish I had ordered, it was so good we made our own the next day which we all loved. After we'd eaten we went round a few shops, we got a few home things and the boys both bought a few things, we got a really nice picture from Primark for the bedroom and it was only £4, they had some really nice things in, it can be a bit hit and miss sometimes but last weekend I saw so many homeware bits I wanted! While the boys were round we watched more scary films, we always try to watch a few when they stop, I don't know why we do it to ourselves. We watched Hush which none of us had heard of but we found it on Netflix and it was actually quite good, and then we watched Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones which I've been wanting to watch for ages!
This weekend we had a date night which was so lovely, we went to the cinema to see Bastille Day and then went for a meal at Bella Italia. I really wanted to see friend request but we watched unfriended last weekend with the boys and I know they're going to be quite similar and I did pick the film last time and that was also a scary one (The Boy) so we picked Bastille Day and i'm so happy we did, I just love Idris Elba. There are so many good films coming out over the next few months so I think we're going to get unlimited cards soon, one im really looking forward to is Me Before You, I read the book a while ago and it was so emotional. Anyway, after watching Bastille Day we went to Bella Italia which we've actually never been too and they've done it all up recently so we thought we would try it. We loved it and we'll definitely be going back, our waiter was so nice and friendly and the food was delicious. We had a bread basket to start, I just love bread, and then I had the Pollo Piccante Pizza which had spicy chicken, roasted peppers and chillis with a stuffed crust and George had the Pollo Formaggi which was giant shell pasta stuffed with chicken and pancetta in a cheese sauce. We then shared a vanilla cheesecake, I think we get cheesecake at most restaurants we go too!
I also had the nicest prosecco, I would go back just for that. I definitely think we'll go back again soon, we had a quiet, little booth and they had lit a candle aswell so it was all just really lovely.
