Fifty Shades of Grey Books and Movie Review...

I really wasn't sure whether to do a review on this film or not, just because I know some people have certain opinions of it and see it in a completely different way to what I do, but I thought why shouldn't I? Because I love the film and if I want to talk about it, I should be able too.

I was so excited to see the film in the cinema on Valentines Day, we booked tickets so early and I plan on doing that with the next film though we do have until 2017 to wait! I'd read the first book and like many people I wasn't that impressed with the writing of it but I've re-read it since and it isn't that bad. Especially since watching the film, its so much easier because you can properly picture all of the characters and I feel even more into the story than before. Just because the authors writing wasn't great, doesn't mean it isn't a great story because it really is and I think it transitioned well into film.
They picked the perfect actors for the roles of Ana and Christian. Dakota Johnson is just Ana, she was the only one who could do it justice in my opinion and the same goes for Jamie Dornan as Christian. I'm a bit in love with him. And I love how his Irish accent sneaks in a few times in the film. They had so much chemistry and I was hooked all the way through. As soon as we watched it in the cinema, I pre-ordered the dvd and a few nights ago we finally got to watch it again and I loved it just as much, if not even more because of the alternate ending! The alternate ending is so good, I would have loved that as the original ending. I think the general story of it is really interesting and I like how in the three books it continues and it isn't just as straightforward as they just overcome all of their issues and live happily ever after after the first one. I can't wait to see how the second and third book are portrayed on screen. I loved the director of Fifty Shades Sam Taylor Johnson and she isn't doing the others which is a bit disappointing, hopefully whoever they choose next will be just as good and as passionate about the story as she was.
Overall, its just a really good love story, a bit different to your usual ones but still good. I honestly love it and it really has become one of my favourite films and I love the books. I've re-read them all a few times and I'm now reading Grey - Christians Perspective which to me is even better. I really wanted to know what he was thinking or feeling throughout the books and the films, so its so good that shes now wrote it, even better than I imagined. It's rumoured shes writing the second and third book from his perspective too which im really looking forward too, especially the second as that one is my favourite, so much happens and it gets even more intense.

Have you read the books or seen the film? What's your opinion on it?

When is the right time for a baby?

Because I want one now.

I know now isn't the right time, in an ideal world we would have more money, a bigger place, a car, would have lived a little bit more but I go through phases where I just get so broody that none of that even matters. I don't see anything wrong with being a young mum, we'll probably wait another year or two but even then we'll still only be 21/22 which isn't old at all! I know a lot of people that are our age won't even be considering getting pregnant but for me I don't want to wait any longer than that. I love the thought of having a little mini me and having someone to look after.

In a year or two we should hopefully be in a bigger place, have a little car and we should both be on a bit more money meaning we could give a baby as good a life as possible. Part of me feels selfish for being broody now as I know most people probably are in a better situation when they're 30 than they are when they're in their early twenties but if you really want it, I don't see why there has to be a certain age that you're allowed to have a baby.

I know now that I am not a career person. I have just started a new job and I love it and I can see myself working there for years, probably somewhere I can still work part time when I have a family but I don't have any intentions of going back to uni or building a proper career for myself. Some people might think thats bad and I have no ambition or drive or anything like that, but I do, just for different things. For me, having a baby/babies has always been the priority, even when I was at uni I was already thinking about how when I get a job, I might miss out on things or I might not get to have kids, I knew even then that my career wasn't ever going to a priority. I think when you're in the right relationship, you want all these things with that person and I knew as soon as I got with George that he was the one I wanted a family with, as soppy as it sounds. I have no idea when we'll have our first baby but I know whenever it is, it will be so, so loved and i'm sure it will be better than we ever imagined.

Do you ever just get SO broody?

Chocolate Chip Flapjack Recipe

I made flapjack for the first time ever a few days ago and we honestly loved it. I've always wanted to make it but I usually either don't have the ingredients or I don't have the time but this time I had both and I wanted to try something different.
50g of chocolate, chopped up or you could use chocolate chips
175g oats
1 tbsp of golden syrup
125g of butter
125g of demerara sugar

1. Melt the butter, sugar and golden syrup in a saucepan.
2. While it is melting together chop up the chocolate.
3. Add the oats to the mixture in the pan and make sure everything is stirred in properly, you can then add the chocolate.
4. Tip into a greased tin and bake in a 180 degrees pre-heated oven for 30 minutes.
5. When cooked, tip out onto a wire rack to cool then cut into squares.
Let me know if you try this recipe, it's so easy to make and just tastes delicious!

Lush Brightside Bubble Bar...

I never normally go for the Bubble Bars at Lush, I've always preferred the bath bombs, but the problem with bath bombs is that you only get one use out of them, whereas bubble bars, with some of them you can easily get 4 or 5 baths out of it.
I bought the Brightside Bubble Bar a few weeks ago as I was all out of Lush products and I always like to have something in, ready to use. They just make baths a bit more exciting. I was torn between this one and The Comforter. I love The Comforter but I wanted to try something new, I think I am going to go back and get it soon as I am almost out of Brightside now and its been so long since I last had it. I love the colour the water goes when I use this bubble bar, a really bright orange depending on how much you use, I normally just take a chunk off then run it undo the tap. It has lasted me ages so it's well worth the money at £4.75. As with all Lush products, this had such a lovely scent.

Have you tried Brightside? What's your favourite thing from Lush?

Rimmel Super Shine Nail Polish - Hot Tropicana...

I had to write a blog post on this nail polish as it has lasted so well and it isn't often I find nail polishes that actually go for more than a few days.

I picked this up as I needed a few new shades for summer, most of the nail polishes I own are darker tones and they're great for winter but when the weather gets hot I want to have the bright pinks and oranges on my nails. I don't actually have many Rimmel nail products, I tend to stick to Barry M but Rimmel are so reasonably priced and they had a huge selection.
I actually used the Barry M Bottom Coat, Top Coat and Nail Hardener as a base then I applied the Rimmel one then again the Barry M to top it off. It applies so well, I love the brush. It was so quick and easy and it wasn't streaky or messy. I did two coats but to be honest one would have been fine. I always use a top coat to get as long out of my nail polish as possible and I really think this helps it stay on for as long as it does. As I am writing this I have had the Rimmel nail polish on for over 5 days and I never normally get that long without any chips in them or without needing to redo them. I am so impressed. I will definitely be getting more Rimmel nail polishes in future.

You can buy the Rimmel 60 Second Super Shine Nail Polish from Superdrug.

Summer Berries Smoothie...

Recently I have been into making smoothies and a few days ago I made one and it was the best one so far so I really wanted to share it. If you have any smoothie recipes, let me know!
I used two handfuls of Frozen Berries. I got a big pack from Asda a few weeks ago, the pack contains strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, redcurrants, blueberries and blackcurrants. I had some fresh raspberries in that needed using too so I put a handful of those in too. I then added half a glass of blackcurrant juice and some ice. Whizzed it up and put it in a nice glass to make it look a little bit pretty!

What's your favourite smoothie to make?

Blogging Schedule Update...

If you visited my blog last week then you will have seen my post about me getting a job. If you haven't i'll leave a link below. This is after a full year of looking and trying but at last it all paid off even if it did take a while. I just can't wait now until we can start getting things for the flat and look at going on holiday. Seriously, so excited. I start work tomorrow so I am quite nervous but i'm excited too, i'm trying not to think about it too much!

I am hoping having a job isn't going to affect my blogging too much. I work 4 days a week so that gives me a few days to relax and get some blogging done and now i'll actually have some money to be able to buy new things so expect lots of beauty posts over the next few weeks. There is so much makeup I want, I don't know where i'll even put it. I normally try to post Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week and then I occasionally do on the weekend so I think I am going to try and stick to that routine. I'll just have to see how the next few weeks go but I hope you stick around while I sort it all out.

I hope you all have a great week, they'll be a new post up Wednesday, probably evening, I haven't decided yet and i'm not great at scheduling but there will be one up at some point!

Why Dogs Are The Best...

Words can't explain how much I miss my dog Bouncer, I haven't seen him in a year. I've mentioned a few times on my blog that I haven't had the best relationship with my parents, things are getting better but it has now been quite a while since I last saw them, obviously because of that I haven't seen Bouncer and I can't wait for when I do get to see him again. I already have in mind what toys I want to get him and I'm already planning to try and get him to stop over here whenever my mum and dad want to go away. It will be the best thing when I can go round and see him again and as we're allowed dogs in our flat, he can come here too! I can already imagine him running around the flat and getting cosy on the settees!
To me, dogs are the best pets you can have, I like cats, I've mentioned Charlie and Alfie's cat a few times, Shade and I love her so much but regarding what pet we decide to get, we know it will be a dog. I'm pretty set on a Golden Retriever but I also love Cavalier King Charles Spaniels which is what Bouncer is. I'm thinking for our first dog we should probably get a smaller one first like a spaniel. And as we want kids, maybe a smaller dog will be better around babies! I just can't wait for the time we have our own.

Dogs are the best because they always know when you are sad, they just sense it! That's when Bouncer would come into my room and jump on my bed or would come on sit on my knee. They love to steal your food but I don't mind. I want to bake dog friendly treats and everything, i'm going to be such a crazy dog owner. They're so much fun, you can take them to parks or the beach and they will just go mad and run around for ages. I used to love taking Bouncer to the seaside for the day because he'd just run around the beach, going up to other dogs but then get scared of the sea! I just love everything about them.

Do you have any pets? Are you a dog lover like me?

The Body Shop Shower Gel - Grapefruit...

I am a huge fan of The Body Shop and recently I bought their Grapefruit Shower Gel because I had ran out of my beloved Passion Fruit Shower Gel. I've always wanted to try this one but I had so many other products left to use up first!
This has ended up becoming a new favourite of mine so I am hoping they never get rid of this one! It's just so sweet and fresh, when I use this my skin feels really revived and I think it's a great one if you shower in a morning before work or school. It kind of wakes you up a little bit. I love the huge bottle too, it lasts me ages and I think for the price, they are so worth it.

I like that this shower gel has a citrus twist to it and isn't just a sickly sweet one. I don't think it's particularly girly either, it's one men could use aswell. It was £4 for this bottle and I'm definitely going to stock up on more soon!

I can't wait to get more from the Grapefruit Range. I want the body butter next!

Have you tried the Grapefruit Shower Gel?

I have a job!

I had to do a quick post just to say after a long year of looking, I finally have a job. It's actually more like a year and a half as I left uni last January, it's been so hard and I can't count the amount of rejections I have had so I am so happy. I'll be a new receptionist at a care centre I used to volunteer at so I already feel like it's the perfect job for me. I really can't wait.

As cheesy as it is, this job is going to change everything. We can now do so many more things. Before we went to uni we always used to go to the cinema and for meals out and date nights but recently they've been less and less so now we can actually start doing those things again. We can now save and hopefully start renting a house, we can go to New York, we can save to get married or just run away and get married haha! We can finally do all the things we've wanted to do for so long, even just day to day things like doing the food shopping and not having to worry anymore about spending too much is going to be so good. I'll have loads more to blog about because I'll actually have money to buy new makeup products, loads more clothes and we can finally do up the flat properly.

I've thought for so long, when is it going to get better? When are we actually going to have a good year? And I don't want to get my hopes up too much but I think this might be it.

I'm now celebrating with cake!

My Haircare Favourites...

I really should make more of an effort with my haircare, but I also should with my skincare, makeup etc. it's not really at the top of my list. Though I don't have the time or the money to be properly looking after my hair, I do try my best and use things that I know my hair works well with and I have a few favourites which never let me or my hair down, so I wanted to talk to you about them.

My favourite shampoo at the moment and really has been for a while, comes from the V05 range. I use the Nourish My Shine Shampoo and Conditioner and I love them. They are so affordable, I buy mine from Superdrug and they are currently on offer for £1.47 each instead of £2.99 each which I think is a great price. I like the way my hair feels after using these, the conditioner just makes it so soft and it always feels nice and bouncy and shiny obviously. It just feels really clean and fresh. It smells so good too. I do want to try the Strength Restorer from Garnier as I have heard great things about it, I loved the Colour Illuminator range so hopefully it will be just as good! Let me know if you've tried it. The reason I haven't so far is because it is a bit more pricey than the V05. Also, is it just me that goes through about 2 or 3 bottles of conditioner while still on 1 bottle of shampoo? I go through it so quick.
I don't know how I ever lived without my Tangle Teezer. Seriously, it is one of the best things I have ever spent money on. If you don't have one, you need one. It doesn't matter what type of hair you have, this just works. I normally have really tangly hair, when its been washed, it's a nightmare and I would spend forever trying to get through it with a normal brush but now I can brush through in seconds. It's so good! I picked mine up from Selfridges when we went to London for £10 but you can get it in Boots.

The last thing I love to use for my hair is a towel wrap, everytime I have washed it. Once I have washed and brushed through my hair, I give it a quick dry with my towel then use my hair wrap. Like a towel but it actually stays in place. I find with this my hair dries quicker, its all up out of the way and I can just forget about it for a while. It's great if you aren't bothered about using a hairdryer or need to get ready or do your makeup. I have one from Primark which will have only been about £2 or £3, they're not expensive. You can get them from Amazon and I have also just seen you can get one from Boots.

What are your haircare favourites?

Food I have been loving this week #2

I really enjoyed doing my first Food I Have Been Loving post! I basically spend my life eating so I like that I now can talk about some of the delicious things I've been trying!

#1 - Tiffin - This is literally becoming an obsession. I make it once a week usually because I can't go any longer without it but I could seriously eat this everyday. It is so simple to make and if you want to give it a go, recipe here
#2 - Asda Good and Balanced Juice - When I was doing the shopping online a few weeks ago I saw they had a new range of juices, some in really weird flavours but as we want to get a bit healthier, we decided to try one. We kind of needed too after eating the tiffin! We chose the Apple, Pumpkin, Grape and Peach and it was so good! To say it didn't have any pineapple in, thats all it tasted of! It was so fresh and it felt like I was doing some good to my body when I was drinking it. They have quite a few other flavours so I think i'll pick another one up next time, the Apple, Lime and Asparagus sounds interesting!

#3 -  Strawberries - I mentioned strawberries in my first food I have been loving this week but I bought some Marks and Spencers ones and they are actually the best strawberries I have ever had. I didn't want to repeat myself and mention things I mentioned last time but these were just too good. For Marks and Spencers the price wasn't even that bad. It was £2 for a reasonably sized punnet and and they even had packs of small strawberries for only £1. Honestly if I had the money I would be shopping there every week.

#4 - Harvester - I mentioned in my Date Day blog post that we went to Harvester and it really is becoming a favourite of ours. The service is always great and the food is amazing. Last time we went I had this Pepper and Salsa Chicken Stack, it was good but I so wished I had what George ordered. Pork and Chorizo burgers are my new favourite. I can't put into words how good it was. I'm going to attempt making them myself but I'm not sure how that will turn out! If it goes well I might do a recipe on here.
#5 - Marks and Spencers Caramel Frappe Dessert - I had to mention this. It's a caramel mousse with cream on top sprinkled with cinnamon and I could honestly eat this everyday, though that wouldn't be very good for me. It's just so nice, they do loads of different desserts like this but this tops them all for me. I want another already.

New in Beauty Wishlist...

I was watching Fleur De Force New in Beauty May 2015 video and it made me want to buy so many things from Boots and Superdrug! There are loads of new things that have been added over the last few months and I really want to get my hands on some of it.

The main thing is the Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Crayons. I knew as soon as Fleur started talking about these and swatched them, that I needed them. I have something similar in the the Rimmel Colour Rush Balms but these ones look a little less glossy than those. I think I want to try the shades Dress Rehearsal which is a pinkey nude and Model Behaviour which is a bright pink.
I love the look of the Bourjois Volume 1 Summer Edition Mascara. This is a retro catwalk inspired mascara which gives your lashes instant 360 volume. It sounds so good! And from what i've seen online when it's on it looks amazing. Another mascara I want to try is the Rimmel Wonder'full Wake Me Up Mascara. I already have the original Rimmel Wonder'full Mascara which I love but i'm really intrigued by the wake me up version. This has vitamins and cucumber and because of this it claims to wake up your lashes and lift them. As I have the original I want to compare the two and see if there is any difference.
The last thing I want to try is the NYC Shine In A Minute Nail Polish in Peacock. I don't normally get NYC nail polishes, I find they just don't last very long but I love this shade and with a top coat I should get about 5 days or so hopefully! I think this colour is great for summer, I love turquoises and teal colours on my nails, it just brightens things up a little bit.
Have you tried any of these things from Superdrug or Boots?

The CovetMe Issue...

A few months ago CovetMe went mental on Twitter after it launched and the blogging community found out about it, everyone was joining this new and exciting site. CovetMe is a platform where you earn points by sharing on your social media - twitter, facebook, instagram, pinterest and google+. You share fashions items and pictures and when you do this you gain points. These points can then be redeemed for vouchers, a very similar concept to sites like Valued Opinions and Toluna (two sites I have never had a problem with and always receive vouchers when I claim them) but instead of doing surveys, you're just sharing things instead.
When it first launched you could claim vouchers for Asos, Net-a-porter and Zara, because so many people signed up and went crazy on it, they obviously all went pretty quickly. The issue is that people claimed these vouchers then the majority of them didn't receive them. I signed up two months ago and claimed a £100 Asos Voucher, have I got it? No.

On Twitter I see the occasional person saying they've had their voucher, the amount of people who have got theirs to those who haven't is just ridiculous. They should have expected this sort of outcome, a site where you can claim £100 vouchers for just sharing a few pictures, of course people are going to go for it.

What really frustrates me is that I have seen a few people claiming and getting their second and third vouchers before people who have even got their first one! How is that fair? Surely you should be sorting out those who claimed vouchers first then start on those who have claimed more? Clearly people are just getting vouchers randomly, it doesn't seem like it is in any sort of order and if for some reason they now can't give the vouchers out, as unacceptable as it would be to mess people around for this long, as least people would know and stop hoping. A voucher is a voucher, to some people they might just think get over it, you're not getting it, but not everyone can afford new clothes all the time, or new shoes, or a new bag, a voucher worth £100 could get you a decent amount of stuff, you'd be mad not to try and get it.

I don't know what the right way of saying this is because I don't want to sound bitchy but the way they are responding to people isn't helping them either. I have had a few DM's on Twitter 'promising' my voucher will be with me soon, to just be patient a little longer, telling me I have been fastracked and I have also seen them tell people they are in the next bunch of vouchers to go out and surprise they don't get them. I think they don't really have a clue themselves how they are going to get these vouchers to people so they are trying to sweet talk them to get them off their backs. It works for a while but when you're waiting week after week and these things you've promised aren't happening, of course you're not going to be happy. The last DM I had from them actually said my account was now being assessed, whatever that means, I know I did everything I was supposed to do to claim the voucher and I did it in the correct way, I think this is just another way of passing the time while they figure out what to do. They don't give anyone a time scale so nobody know when they're voucher will arrive either, its literally 'soon' but it never is.

I'm not sure of the point of this post, just to hopefully find out other peoples opinions and see if anyone else is having this issue. Surely they have to do something. I don't know what the solution is but they're are a lot of unhappy people wanting what they have been promised. Maybe they should have closed the site for a while so new people can't sign up meaning no more vouchers can be claimed, meaning those who have already claimed on the first day, some in the first few hours, actually get them. Then maybe reassess and bring the site back.

Hopefully it's a lesson not to underestimate the blogging community.

What do you think to all of this? Are you one of the people who claimed a voucher? Have you got it?

Edit - The day after I published this blog post, I received my voucher! It can't have been a coincidence, clearly they saw my blog post and decided to do something about it. Obviously I am happy I have my voucher now but I really wish I'd not had to write a blog post about it in the first place, they haven't dealt with it all in the right way and there are still loads of people without their vouchers.
