Slimming World Keema Curry Pie Recipe

I don't know if any of you following Slimming World but this was something I saw in the latest magazine and it is amazing! I get the magazine every month as they have so many healthy and tasty recipes and there is always something new to try. Keema Curry Pie is basically a spicy shepherds pie and you just have to try it. I followed the basic recipe I'd found and just adapted it to suit what we already had in so it's a great one to put your own stamp on.

Ingredients: for 2 people
250g Lean Beef Mince
1 onion, finely diced
2 baking potatoes, peeled and chopped
1 tsp ginger powder
2 tbsp curry powder
1 tsp of cumin powder
1 beef stock and 400ml water
1 can of chopped tomatoes
Salt and Pepper

1. Spray a pan with frylight then brown the mince, whilst this is cooking you can start the potatoes boiling
2. Add in the chopped onion and fry until soft
3. Add in your spices - curry powder, ginger and cumin and stir well into the mince
4. Pour in the chopped tomatoes and the beef stock, mix well then leave to simmer for around 30/40 minutes
5. Once the potatoes are boiled and soft, you can mash! I just add some salt, butter and milk to get it nice and smooth
6. Pre-heat your oven to 200 degrees and assemble the Keema Curry Pie. Add in the mix mixture to a dish and then top with the mash
7. Add grated cheese to the top and bake in the oven for half an hour until golden and crispy
8. Serve with vegetables and gravy for a lovely, filling meal
Let me know if you give this a go one day, it was so delicious! Really one of my favourite meals I've ever made.

Wedding Planning #1

I think I am just going to do these posts every so often, just when we have made some sort of progress. I don't want to bore people too much and right now we are just talking about things, rather than actually booking and settings dates!

The first thing we have decided on is the honeymoon. Just because, we know where we want to go and thats probably going to end up been the most expensive part of it all. I think we are set on going to New York for a week. I know a lot of people go on beach holiday type honeymoons and thats what we thought of for a while (before we even got engaged) but New York just looks so amazing. I can't imagine how it would feel to be there after wanting to go for so long. Its always been somewhere we have wanted to go but haven't really considered it until this last month. We were actually looking for this year but it just wouldn't be possible as it is going to cost a lot! Now we have an idea of how much it will be, the hotels we like, the area we want to be in, we have put a bit of a plan together. We know a set amount we need to put away each month so that we can go for our honeymoon next winter/christmas. That brings me round to the date/time of year. For now we are thinking next winter, around November/December 2016 and then a honeymoon straight after. I would love to go to New York at christmas too so it would be perfect. That been said though we really do just want to be married as soon as possible so we could end up getting married this year and just waiting until next year for the honeymoon. I think if we know we are going to New York, it would be worth the wait.

For the actual wedding, we are pretty set on a registry office, just the two of us, maybe a few friends, maybe a few family members, we aren't decided on that bit yet. But we know we don't want a big church wedding or anything fancy, for us it is really just about been husband and wife, and me been the next Mrs.Timms! We already know the place we could go for it, how many people we would be allowed, how much it would cost, all the little details. It would really just be about booking that now and that is something we will look at over the next few months. I am so excited!

Thats about as far as we have got now, I am constantly thinking about it and I just want it to happen now but I do want it to be as good as it can be and I know it will be worth the wait.

One Pan Brownies Recipe...

This is such a simple recipe for some tasty brownies. I love baking brownies but never seem to be able to get them right, I adapted a few recipes and came up with this one. My presentation skills are shocking, but if they taste good thats all that matters.
1/2 cup of butter
3/4 cup of cocoa, I used a mix of Cadburys and Dr Oetker because that was all I had
1 1/4 cup of sugar
Pinch of salt
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup of plain flour

Preheat oven to 200 degrees
Line and grease a baking tin
Melt butter in a large saucepan then add the cocoa powder. Stir until smooth
Add the sugar, salt, eggs and vanilla extract
Add flour a bit at a time and fold in
When everything is combined, pour into the prepared tin and bake for around 25 minutes
When you think it is done, put a sharp knife or skewer into the mix, if it comes out clean it is done, if not, put it back into the oven for a big longer

When done, tip out onto a wire rack and leave to cool. When it is cool, cut into squares.

Let me know if you give this recipe a go!

Making a house a home...

I was very happy to be part of Urban Compass's new project they are doing called Starter Stories. This project involves bloggers talking about their first/current proper home and I thought this was perfect for me and my blog. They're a real estate platform in the Big Apple and serve some great neighborhoods for apartments and houses.

As most of you know me and George moved in together September 2013, into a student flat in Leicester. It wasn't a big flat at all, literally one open plan room with a bathroom. It was nice and I think we were just happy to be in our own place together but we definitely needed more space!
So this year we moved back to Sheffield and moved into a new 2 bedroom flat. This was the second place we saw, we had actually got to the final stages with another place, a 3 bedroom house which really was perfect but the less said about that the better, I still feel quite sad about it. When we found this place we knew there was quite a lot we wanted to change and add to. As this place is part furnished there was already some furniture in place, the things that we had included were 2 sofas, all kitchen electricals apart from a microwave (we can live without that for now), bedside tables, 2 wardrobes and 2 chest of drawers. We have kind of just had to make do with these things for now. They're not bad at all, but they're not ours. I have had my eye on a few other sofas and we are looking at getting some new ones soon.

The room that we wanted to start with was the living room just because this is where we spend most of our time and the room people will see if they come round. We added blankets and cosy cushions to the sofas which instantly made it look better. We bought a coffee table from IKEA for £16! It looks great and we made it look even better by adding candles and a nice photo. We just made little touches like this to make it feel really homely. Literally in the last week we have bought two new bookshelves to store all of our DVDs and recipe books and on the top we have added photo frames and more candles. Can you spot a theme? To me, things like that really make it feel like a home. We have a picture on show from about 3 years ago when we first got together! We also have our wedding planner on show on the bookshelves too which is something nice to look at!
The box of chocolates were from christmas!
We really didn't need to do anything to the kitchen, we just added a clock and some wall art. Georges brothers actually helped us pick some stuff for the wall this weekend, they picked well.
We haven't really started on anything in the bedroom. As we haven't been here a long time we are just doing one room at at a time. All we want to add to the bedroom now is some pictures and a mirror on the walls. We would also like a new TV! But these will be things we'll sort over the next few months. We do have a few things we have added recently for a more personalised touch. We also have a spare bedroom/office but that is where literally everything goes for now as we still need to get some sort of storage. When we have that, we can start making that room look a bit better. I do want a desk so I can do my blogging in there and also it would be nice to have a bed in there for when people stop over.
I think to say we haven't lived here that long, we have done pretty well. It does feel like a home now and I do enjoy just relaxing in the living room with the candles on at night!

As I was writing this, George was putting a new picture frame up on the wall, I ordered it from Next and I love it! Definitely feels like the living room is almost complete!
As I said, I was invited to take part in a new project called Starter Stories by Urban Compass. I have not been paid for this post and all words are my own, I just thought it sounded perfect for my blog!

Slimming World Mushy Pea Curry Recipe

This was something I first tried a few months ago and even though I really liked it and managed to freeze about 3 portions of it, I just forgot about it! I made some more last week though because it really is nice and george even likes it too! The first time i made it he wouldn't eat it because he thought it wouldn't be very nice but now he loves it! I know just by reading the title you're probably thinking that it's going to be disgusting and I was really wary before I tried it but it does taste just like a normal curry.
1 tin of chopped tomatoes
1 tin of baked beans
1 tin of mushy peas
1 onion, chopped
Curry Powder - as much as you would like
Salt and Pepper to season

1. Fry onion in frylight for about 5 minutes
2. Add mushy peas and baked beans and stir
3. Add chopped tomatoes and stir into the mixture
4. Leave this for around 20 minutes for it to reduce down into a sauce then add the curry powder,
also add some salt and pepper. Again leave for another 10 minutes or so
5. I serve this with rice and you can also add chicken into the curry sauce

It is a really simple recipe and usually you end up with loads left in the pan so it is great for freezing.

My Favourite Wedding Pins...

I have mentioned before that I love Pinterest. I go on it everyday and my 'boards' literally have hundreds and hundreds on pictures in them. As I have so many boards I wanted to just pick a few and do a blog post on each, the first one being my wedding board. As you can imagine this is just full of so many pictures of dresses, rings, food, just everything that is involved with a wedding and as we have started planning and have a few things decided I thought it was quite appropriate.
All images taken from pinterest.
These two pictures are some of my favourites on Pinterest because they are both just about the two of them. We know we want a really quiet wedding, like really quiet! Literally a few people there, some family members and some friends and that will be it. The thought of walking down the aisle and everyone looking at me makes me feel very sick, I don't think I could do it so there really can't be loads of people there. We really just want it to be about us too, as it should be. Nobody else should matter, for a long time we have put other people first instead of us who really didn't deserve it and they would just cause drama or ruin it and that is not happening on our wedding day. I would honestly be happy for me and George to just go to a registry office, get married and go on honeymoon! For us it is just about having the same name and been husband and wife, we don't need a fancy wedding in a fancy venue.
I know I want lace somewhere on my wedding dress. I have already seen loads of dresses I like so I do have some sort of image of what I want what they look like on is another thing. I'm not planning on actually trying any on for a good few months yet as I am not where I want to be bodywise but I am on the right track so hopefully it won't be too long. I honestly have so many pictures of dresses on my pinterest so choosing just a few to show what I like was difficult! I love sleeves on a wedding dress, probably not full length but 3/4 looks so pretty, I really do not like my arms much at the moment so having them out is something else that makes me feel ill! I just can't wait to wear a wedding dress and hopefully one day pass down to my daughter/s.
I love the thought of writing each other a little note to give to each other on our wedding day. I think one saying how many days we have been together or loved each other is just so romantic and something you can keep forever. I also saw a little book on pinterest titled 'reasons I want to marry you'. I would love to get one of these and fill it and hand it over on our wedding day, how cute would it be for both to have one of these and then hand them over to each other. The picture of the dog might be a bit random but I am so desperate for a dog, I really am. Golden retrievers are just adorable, I am in by myself most days and I just love the thought of having a dog to walk everyday and just look after. They have so much love for people and it really would just make me so happy, even happier than I already am. I think a dog would really help me with my anxiety too, it would give me a reason to leave the house everyday and just get me interacting with more people and generally just making things better. The point of me including this picture is because if we did have a dog before we got married, it would have to be at the wedding! Some people might think this is really weird but I have grown up with a dog, who I now don't live with and miss very very much and I would see them as part of the family so why wouldn't they be there?! Everybody is different and for me it would make the day even better. You can laugh at me if you want too. The last picture I love
because how good will it be to finally say we are married, both be wearing wedding rings and have the same last name.

I just can't wait.

Next Homeware Wishlist...

We've recently bought some new things for the flat and I really am so happy with it. It feels so nice and cosy now but there are still a few other things I am hoping for soon. Next are one of the best places to go for Homeware and everytime I look on their website I find loads and loads of things which I think would look great in the flat.
We have a light in the hallway and one in the bedroom that really need something over them. I didn't even notice at first that there was no lamp shades on them but now it is really bugging me! I love this Lexy Easy To Fit Mini Shade for the hallway. The colours really go with what we have already in the hall and the living room so I think this would look really good. It is £20 which I think is really good given it looks so much more expensive than that. We do have quite a lot of glasses but we have had them for ages and they just don't look as good anymore so I am really wanting to get some new ones soon. I love this Set of Slogan Tumblers and it is only £7! Similar to the glass situation, I feel like all the bedding we have, we have had for ages and I just want to refresh things a bit and as were in a new flat, replace a few things and bedding is one of them. The Rustic Floral Set is so nice, I love the colours. This might seem a bit random but I love reed diffusers. I love that they can make the whole place smell so good, we currently have a frosted vanilla one in the living room which we got for christmas along with scented candles too and it smells so good. I really want some more for when that one runs out too, I love the colours of these diffusers from Next for £14.
I love how different the Heart Collage Frame is, its nothing like what we have already and I just love the gold colour of it. It would really go with the colours in the living room and the walls are a bit bare at the minute so something like this would be great. As I mentioned above about needing new glasses, the same goes for mugs. I just love these Shimmer Mugs. So pretty!
Again as the walls are quite bare, I really want something like this White Wicker Heart which actually has fairy lights in it. I already know where this could go and I think it would just look really pretty. The last thing I saw on Next was this set of 4 Etched Pattern Frames. I like that two of these have quotes/sayings in them and I think I would keep these in there and then put a photo in the other two.

Next have some great things online right now so I would really recommend taking a look!

Lush Christmas Candy Box...

Even though the festive period is over, I still wanted to write about the Lush Christmas Candy Box that I opened on christmas day. I could write about Lush all day, I am always finding new things to try and I have my old favourites that I keep going back to. Lush definitely becomes my favourite place at christmas time and even though I had picked up a few christmas products, I didn't actually go in as much as I have done previous years so I was really happy to see a few Lush things wrapped up as I didn't want to miss out!

Overall, I was really impressed with this box, it had Snow Fairy in which is my favourite shower gel so I knew I was going to like it! I almost don't want to use the bottle of snow fairy because I know as soon as its gone I have to wait months until its out in the shops again! It just smells amazing and the bathroom smells like Snow Fairy all day after I've used it! Something else in the box I have used before is the Butterbear. Just so cute. I wanted to stock up on these because how adorable are they? I like that with the Butterbear it doesn't necessarily make your bath extremely exciting but you really feel the benefits of it on your skin. It makes my skin feel so so soft and moisturised. And when its this cute, I could never say anything bad about it. Really hope its back next year! The other two products included which I hadn't tried before include the Rock Star Soap and Candy Mountain. I haven't got round to using the soap yet but it does smell amazing. The candy mountain was very similar to the Hedgehog Bubble Bar which needs crumbling under running water. I always prefer the bath bombs to the bubble bars but this was still nice. The bath water went a lovely pink colour and my skin felt extremely soft!
I would be so happy to receive this as a gift again and I think it is one I would definitely get for other people. I can't stop talking about how good the smell is but it really is amazing. If you like the scent of Snow Fairy, you will love this whole box, if not, they do sell loads of other gift sets which might be better for you. Something else I love about this box is that you get a little magazine/paper in it too. I just think this is a really cute gift set, a great starter kit for somebody who hasn't tried Lush products before.

Have you ever tried this lush kit?

Degustabox - December 2014...

I thought this months Degustabox would be good and it really is! They never let me down, every month they really do get better and better.

If you didn't know Degustabox is a subscription box which comes every month, similar to beauty boxes but this one is all food and drink! You get around 9 to 14 surprise products, some which aren't even in the shops yet! It is £12.99 each month but the value of the box is always more than that so it is definitely worth the money.
In this months box, there was a real variety, something for everyone. The first thing I saw was the Bahlsen Choco Leibniz. These are fine milk chocolate wrapped around a crisp biscuit. One pack was just plain and the other was caramel. I am actually in love with these biscuits. I have had them before and seriously, I could eat them everyday. So happy these were included in the box. The next thing was Fry Light Infuse, we got the chilli flavour but I think some people got the garlic. We have had the normal fry light before and always buy it when we can, so much better than using oil for cooking. If you didn't know fry light is an alternative to oil and butter, things you might use when cooking or frying food. It is so much better for you and you only need a few sprays so it lasts a long time. I had been wanting to try the chilli one so I am very glad we got this! Another Kents Kitchen Meal Kit was included and we haven't got round to using the one from last months box but we will as they look so good! Just quick and easy. I was recently sent a huge parcel from Kents Kitchen with loads of different cooking kits and ingredients so look out for a review sometime in the new year! Pukka Herbs Clean Green was in the box and it wasn't something I was really excited to get but I will try it and I think George really wants to see what these are like! Something else I wasn't too bothered about but will give it a go is the Oats and Chia, these are whoelgrain oats and chia blended with fruit and coconut oil. All you do is add water, so great for people who don't have dairy and they seem good for quick breakfasts. Something we opened straight away was the Gloworm Premium Mixers, we got 4 flavours, Raspberry and Orris, Cucumber and Apple, Pear, Spice and Lime and Ginger and Lemongrass. These are designed to blend with spirits and seem really interesting! The Coarse Orange Marmalade might not get used by us. I thought it was just jam at first and we would have that but I really don't think I have had marmalade since I was a kid! I just remember my grandma always having it on toast. It might get opened at some point so we can see what it is like. I was very happy Popchips were included this month! I love popchips and actually have a review of them here. The big bag got demolished pretty quickly. The last thing in the box was Eisberg Non Alcoholic Wine. I didn't realise it was non alcoholic at first but I really don't mind, I just like wine and it tastes exactly the same! This was sent with the idea of people wanting to maybe cut back on alcohol in the new year, a really great thing to include I think.

Overall I was really happy with this months box as always, there were a few things I just won't use but I like the variety.

What did you think to this months box?

What I Got For My Birthday 2015...

I wanted to include a few pictures to show what I got for my birthday! I had a great day and was totally spoilt by George.
  • Sali Hughes Pretty Honest - I have been wanting this book for a while now but I really wasn't expecting it! It was a shock to open this but I am so happy, ive had a quick read through already and I really can't wait to get through it all.
  • Lush Snow Fairy Gift Set - George knows I love Snow Fairy and this has a shower gel, massage bar, soap and magic wand. The flat will be smelling of this for weeks!
  • Toblerone Tinys - I just love chocolate and these are amazing.

  • Jamie Olivers Comfort Food - I was so hoping for this book, it has so many good recipes in it and I can't wait to get started on them. I also got one of his older books Ministry Of Food which I saw last week in WHSmith. Again so many great, easy recipes which I really want to try!
  • Lush Baby Frosty Set - This has Shoot For The Stars Bath Bomb which I talked about here on my blog so I was so so so happy to see this! I can't even describe, its my favourite bath so I don't really want to use it because then I've got to wait until next christmas to get another one! It also has butterball.
  • This may seem random but I got a Frozen Colouring Book which I am really excited about! I just love Frozen, Olaf is my favourite.

  • The wedding planning can really start now. You make think its a bit random but I said I wanted some sort of wedding magazine as I haven't had chance to get any yet and I got this huge magazine with loads of different booklets and it also came with a wedding planner so now we have two!
  • I got some Quality Street Fruit Cremes! The strawberry fruit cremes are my favourite in quality street and I knew that these were out somewhere, a whole box dedicated just to the creme chocolates! Safe to say we are getting through them quite quickly.

  • My main present was Foot Massager! Literally all we have to do is walk to the shop and my feet will be hurting not long after leaving, I just don't wear good shoes! I have wanted one of these for so long and Georges brother Alfie said he would try and get me one for christmas but George put towards it too and they got it me for my birthday instead. I have already tried it and I love it. I will be using this most nights!

Lush Butterbear...

Does anyone else think Butterbear is just the cutest thing in the world?
I just love Butterbear. This is one that was out at christmas in Lush and one I had seen many people buying! I knew as soon as I saw it that I had to get it, it's just adorable.

I get why people might think this one isn't as exciting as other bath bombs Lush do but I think it is just as good. Some nights you do just want a relaxing bath which is going to make you feel good and this bath bomb definitely does that. It has a generous helping of cocoa butter which makes your skin feel soft and hydrated. I can always tells when I have used this because my skin feels so good. It smells gorgeous too. This has vanilla aromas which stay on your skin long after your bath.

Even though the original Butterball is available all year, I think I will be waiting until next christmas to get my hands of more of these.

Do you love Butterbear?

Kents Kitchen Meal Kit - Chilli Con Carne Recipe*

Over the weekend we wanted to make something simple and relatively quick for dinner so we decided to try one of the Kents Kitchen Meal Kits. I was recently sent so many products over from the people at Kents Kitchen to try and review for you all and as chilli is something I make all the time, this meal kit was the best one to start with and one I really wanted to write about.

In case you didn't know Kents Kitchen sell a range of meal kits and products all with the aim of you making delicious meals in a timely manner. Nobody wants to spend ages cooking after a busy day but with the help of Kents Kitchen you can make hearty, healthy meals in less time than you would think. All you need to do is add a few simple ingredients.

Chilli con carne is something we make a lot, usually once a week because I just love it so much. It really is my favourite meal so I was interested to see how this would turn out and if it would be any different to how I normally make it.
This kit included olive oil, herb, seasoning and spices and chilli con carne paste. The only things I needed to add were mince, chopped tomatoes and kidney beans, everything I already had in!

I started by cooking the mince in chilli fry light, I didn't end up using the oil as I don't feel like its necessary if you already have something to cook your meat in. I  then added the chopped tomatoes, some beef stock, the chilli con carne paste and the seasoning and spices. I just left it all to simmer for about 20 minutes then added my kidney beans. Again I left it to simmer while the rice was cooking and it became a nice thick mixture. It did taste different to the chilli I would normally make but that was a good thing. I think it was just because I didn't use my own spices, the ones included were great though, not too hot if you don't like spicy food but enough for those who do like a bit of spice in their chilli.
Overall, this was just great. I really loved it and will be looking out for the chilli con carne meal kit in the future. It was so simple, the instructions were clear and most of the things you will need to add, will probably be in your cupboard. I have loads of other meal kits to try so look out for more of these soon.

*I was sent a selection of products to try from Kents Kitchen, I only work with companies and feature products I feel are relevant to me and my blog

Lush Shoot For The Stars

I do love a bath bomb, there is not much better to me than hot bubble bath with one of these in fizzing away. I got the Shoot For The Stars bath bomb recently and it has fast become one of my favourites. That's saying something too as I've used and loved so many other things from Lush in the past.

I'd not seen this one in store before but I was instantly drawn to it because of the bright blue. Lush have so many exciting bath bombs, especially around this time of year and I'm so glad I've found this, I'm sure it will be one I want every year now though!
Lush Shoot For The Stars
This bath bomb literally turned the bath water into a galaxy. I thought this would just make the water blue but it was multicoloured! As soon as I put it into the bath, there were pinks, green and yellows coming out of the bath bomb aswell as lots of pretty patterns before eventually turning a deep blue with sparkles and little stars.

Aswell as looking incredible, it had such a beautiful scent too! It filled the bathroom and I could smell it for hours afterwards. For the price I think this is brilliant and so worth trying. It was a lovely addition to a pamper night!

Have you tried this bath bomb? What's your favourite Lush product?
