Weekend Summary #19 and #20 - Baking, Bradfield and Date Night!

I really didn't do much last weekend apart from bake so there wasnt much point me doing one seperate weekend post for it so I thought i'd just combine last weeks with this weeks. I'll probably do that whenever I've had a bit of a quiet weekend.

Last weekend I made a pretty good cornflake tart and some amazing slutty brownies! The cornflake tart was so simple, I got a sheet of shortcrust pastry and blindbaked it in a tart tin, while this was in the oven I melted butter, golden syrup, brown sugar and a pinch of salt in a saucepan and then added cornflakes to it. When the pastry was done, I added a layer of jam then added the cornflake mix and baked for an extra 10 minutes. It took me back to when I used to go to Georges for the weekend and he'd get us both something from a little shop/bakery near his and I always wanted the cornflake tart! The Slutty Brownies were also so easy to make but im going to do a full recipe for those soon!
Thie weekend just gone was a really nice few days off for us both as we booked a few extra days off, we went for a date night on saturday which was lovely, I love that we've started making things like that a bit more of regular thing, we always have such a good time. This weeks was also a bit of a celebration too as I had some good news about my job last week, so happy that so many things we wanted to do we can now actually plan and properly look forward to! We went to the cinema to see 'The Boy' which was so creepy, I wouldnt say it was scary, a bit jumpy and weird but I actually enjoyed it, and then we went to Frankie and Bennys afterwards which is always good. We actually also got loads done in the flat this weekend which was really nice and long overdue, we wanted to do a proper spring clean and things look and feel so much better now!
On Monday as we were off work we went to Bradfield for the afternoon and it was really, really nice, I've never been before so George gave me a bit of a tour, the weather was awful and of course it would rain on the the day we go, but it was still lovely and we had some food at The Old Horns Inn. I went for the chilli and George had pie, the chips were insane, we'll definitely go back again and make it a regular thing, the desserts were also so good and it was just a really nice, cosy pub, everyone was so friendly and the views were so pretty, I'd imagine it looks even better in summer.
