My April To-Do List

Well April certainly isn't set to be the month that I thought it would be. George and I should be heading to London in a few weeks to see Dear Evan Hansen and & Juliet, something I had looked forward to for so long, we should have booked an anniversary trip we'd been planning but travel is off the cards and we also had a few other plans closer to home that we wanted to do with Bear which are now obviously not possible. It's fine, everything can be re-arranged but it's still disappointing. Generally I've been dealing with things far better than I thought I would though. I definitely have days where the seriousness of what's going on in the world hits me but I'm just trying to stay positive and hoping that if everyone PLEASE just does the right thing for now that we can all get back to normality in the not too distant future. Despite spending pretty much all my time at home now, there are still things I want to get sorted this month so here's April to-do list!

Continue Cooking New Meals

One of the positives of the situation we're in at the moment is that I've been cooking far more than usual. I cook most nights of the week anyway but recently it's been far too easy to grab a takeaway or just chuck something in the oven and whilst that's perfectly okay, I'd lost creativity when it came to cooking and over the last few weeks, that's been coming back. I've been trying out new ideas and I've sort of been forced to make something of what we've got in due to the lack of basics in the supermarkets. I feel like my cooking skills are improving and I'm loving perfecting certain dishes now so I just want to keep that up.

Try and Get Back To A Blogging Schedule

I said in one of my recent posts - how I'm keeping sane whilst social distancing, that I'd not had the motivation for blogging recently which I think is understandable but it feels like it's coming back. I'm getting that urge again to just sit and type and I want to get back to sharing regularly, it's what's made me happy for so long so it feels good to feel like that again. I don't think I'll necessarily go back to posting every Monday, Wednesday and Friday but maybe twice a week would be a good start.

Take Blog Photos

I'm in desperate need of some photos for my blog and my Instagram! I tend to take loads in bulk so that they're just ready to go whenever but I've got through most from the last time I did that so I need to just shut myself away in the office for an hour! I find taking photos the most stressful part of blogging just because I don't find I'm that creative and never really know how to switch it up but I'm gonna give it a go this month.

Daily Walks

I had a bit of a wobble last week and got really paranoid about going out for a walk each day with Bear so I really want to get back to doing that this month. I'd been watching the news A LOT and I think I'd let everything just build up and I'd scared myself that if I went out to the park and touched something by accident that I was going to get ill. I mean, I'll still be careful and make sure I'm keeping safe but I do need that bit of fresh air back.

Read 2 Books

I've really slowed down again with my reading challenge over the last few weeks so this month I'm determined to read two books. It took me ages to get through my latest read, The Chocolate Lovers Club by Carole Matthews, for no reason other than I just didn't feel that urge to pick up a book and I'd got too sucked into DisneyPlus! I'm currently reading The Longest Holiday by Paige Toon and then I have a few thrillers lined up which I'm excited to get stuck into.

So whilst this isn't the April to-do list I was hoping to share and my content will be a little different than I'd planned, I'm just going to stay positive and hope for the best. That's all we can do really isn't it? It's definitely strange spending so much time at home but in a way I do think one day I'll look back on this time and be grateful that I got this extra time with my family. I know I'll appreciate so much more afterwards aswell.

Anyway, how are you hoping to spend this month? How are you finding things at the moment?

sorry to hear that your trip to London got cancelled, it's such a shame isn't it? At least it's better to be safe than sorry. I need to take more blog photos too, and I hope yours turn out well xx

I’m the same - everything is fine and then the severity of the situation will hit me and I freak out. But I think that’s normal - given the circumstances! Great list of things to do this month. I feel like this month might be less frantic because we all know that we’re going to be stuck at home for it so we can plan accordingly whereas March was so up in the air! Sorry to hear about your London trip xxx

That's such a shame. I'm sure everything we all had planned can be re-scheduled but it's hard not to feel disappointed isn't it. Take care xx

Thanks Hannah. That's so true. I fully expected it so it wasn't a shock to have to cancel it but I was still holding out a little bit of hope. I just hope things start to get better soon, life feels like it's on hold xx

Thanks Jenny. I'm glad you can relate but it's just such a crap situation isn't it? I've been pretty calm about it so far and I just keep trying to see a light at the end of the tunnel but some days it feels never ending xx

I'm sorry your London plans didn't work out, but staying positive and keeping other goals is great! I'm also trying to get back to a better blogging schedule, now is the perfect time for it, right? Good luck with all your April goals! :)

I'm so busy right now prepping for my recipe series next month that I haven't really had chance for lockdown to hit me yet but I'm sure that will happen soon. I think trying to keep a routine as much as possible is really helpful mentally x
