I'm such a film fanatic. I love a trip to the cinema, hasn't there been some great films out recently? but I also love a cosy movie night in too. Recently we've been getting through so many movies at the weekend, there's just something about this time of year that makes me want to be permanently wrapped up in a blanket, eating popcorn and drinking tea. As we've been watching so many different films over the last few months, it got me thinking back to some of the ones I used to love when I was younger. As a teenager I had a ridiculous amount of DVD's and some films I still adore to this day so I thought I'd share some of them with you. Let me know if any of these remind you of being a teenager too or if there are any others that you used to love growing up!
Twilight
I had to start with the Twilight films, I was utterly obsessed with them when I was 13. Now, a story about a girl falling in love with a vampire wouldn't be my sort of thing but back then, wow it was just everything and I was so invested in the books and the films. I read all of the books so quickly, fell head over heels in love with Robert Pattinson and I was devastated when the films were over. I still remember going to see the first film with a few friends and all of us being beside ourselves with happiness when Edward first appears. Did anyone else have a serious crush? When I watch the films back now it definitely makes me cringe a little but I think I'll always have a soft spot for them, I do still genuinely enjoy them and if I see they're on, I'm going to make a night of it. Were you team Edward or team Jacob? I did sway a little in New Moon but Edward was always the one for me.
Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging
I never, ever get bored of this movie. It was another film that I absolutely adored and as a young teenager it was kind of an important one for me. When you're insecure and feel like you'll be the one to never get a boyfriend out of all of your friends (when really that's so unimportant at that age) this made me think a little differently and I loved that this showed that actually boys don't always go for the 'popular' girls. When Georgia and Robbie finally get together in the end, ahh it just made me so happy and even now when I watch it, it makes me smile so much. It takes me right back to being in secondary school.
A Cinderella Story
I loved watching this when I was younger. It wasn't too long ago I watched it again actually and it made me feel all warm and content like it used to. If you haven't seen it before, it's a modernisation of the classic Cinderella and it's about two internet pen pals who plan to meet at their school's Halloween dance. To this day I'm still not quite sure how Austin never recognised Sam at the dance, I mean, she had a tiny mask on, it was obvious? That's the one thing about this film that annoys me but apart from that it's just a wonderful love story. Chad Michael Murray as Austin was some sort of god in this film when I was younger.
Music and Lyrics
This might be a bit of an odd one compared to the other films in this list as it's not necessarily a typical teen romance film but I used to love it so much. I watched this so many times when I had it on DVD. It's about former music superstar Alex, who is played by Hugh Grant and his one major chance at a pop comeback. Singer Cora Corman asks him to write a song for her so he and his plant lady, played by Drew Barrymore give it a go together and it doesn't take them long to fall in love. How can you not love a film with Hugh Grant in? His singing might not be the best but he's so funny in this. Just such a good film!
Wild Child
I got a little obsessed with this film around the same time as Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. I remember I bought them both at the same time so I used to just alternate between them for ages! Emma Roberts pays 16 year old Poppy whose dad realises she'd been too spoilt and needs to be brought back down to earth. He sends her off to boarding school in England and this is where she meets Freddie, played by Alex Pettyfer who makes her realise the move might not have actually been such a bad idea after all. I'm not a massive fan of Emma Roberts but this film is brilliant and I could go back and watch it now and enjoy it just as much as I used to.
Were you a fan of any of these films too?
