August Favourites - Christoper Robin, Manchester & Redecorating

Does anyone else think August flew by? I'm so glad we're creeping up to Autumn now and the end of the year but wow it has gone fast these last few months!

Manchester - I've already posted about our week in Manchester, you can find that post here if you want to see what we got up to but I really wanted to mention it in my favourites too. As we were there for Georges work we didn't get loads and loads of free time together to explore but I had a few days to spend shopping, walking around the centre, chilling in coffee shops and getting lots of blogging done. We had been so ready for a break and the time we did get to go out and enjoy each others company was lovely. Manchester has been a favourite of ours since we got engaged there almost 4 years ago so it's always nice to go back. I think my favourite part of the trip was an evening at the Trafford Centre. It was so nice to be back after such a long time, we had a really nice meal and got to visit some places we don't have at home.

Our new bathroom - Finally after living in our flat for almost 4 years, we have a bathroom we like! It's not that it was awful to begin with but it was quite a luminous green, already there when we moved in and it was something we always wanted to paint over. I honestly have no idea why it took us SO long though. Anyway we went for a deep purple colour and I am in love with it. I actually enjoy walking in there and seeing how different it is now whereas before it was one room I never wanted people to see. It was an absolute task painting such a small room but I am incredibly glad it's done now.

Chocolate Victoria Sponge - After a bit of an initial baking disaster with this cake that was supposed to be a classic Victoria Sponge, I managed to find a solution in Nutella! It turned out far better than I could have predicted and I just wish I'd had the idea sooner. The sponge was so nice and soft and it all went together so well. I'll definitely be making it again. A recipe for this cake recently went up if you want to give it a go too!

Rimmel Lasting Finish Blush - I know I've mentioned this blusher a few times on my blog before but I've really found a new love for it recently. It's incredibly affordable compared to lots of other brands at just £3.99 and it last ages! I think there are 3 shades available but the one I always repurchase is Pink Rose which is a beautiful dusty pink shade that goes so well with a natural makeup look. I've absolutely loved using this again over the last few weeks.

Christopher Robin - Ahh this film. I don't know where to start! I have adored Winnie the Pooh since I was young so once I heard about the new Christopher Robin film, I knew I would be going to see it opening night. Just the trailer made me emotional so I had a feeling it was going to be a very special film for me and anyone else who loved that silly old bear years ago. They really have created something wonderful with this, Jim Cummings is back doing the voice of Winnie so it really is like going back to your childhood. I loved the story, it broke my heart in places and made me so happy in others, I already can't wait to watch it again.

Notting Hill - WHY did it take me so long to watch this! Notting Hill is one of those classic films that pretty much everyone seems to have watched and loved yet for some reason I just never got round to it. We had a bit of a film afternoon one weekend recently and put this on and wow, I just loved it. Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts are perfect together and I totally get the hype. I think next time we're in London we'll have to try and visit some of the locations on Portobello road!
