The Story Behind The Photo #5

It's been a little while since I last did one of these posts and I love doing them so I thought it was about time I picked another photo. This time I wanted to pick a photo from our trip to Manchester a few years ago, when we did the Coronation Street Tour and just had such a good few days. I did do a blog post on this at the time but for those who are maybe new to my blog I thought I'd just pick one photo from that and talk about it in a bit more detail.
So if you're from the UK I'm sure you'll have heard of Coronation Street, it's one of the biggest TV programs, and it's something I look forward to whenever it's on! So a few years ago when it came out that they were moving to a new location and giving people the chance to do a tour of the original set before it was demolished, I was so keen to go. This is something I had watched for such a long time, and I really didn't want to miss out on such a good opportunity as we would never get the chance again. We went in March 2015 and I think it was our second day there that we did the tour. We got to see so much and it was such a fun few hours seeing all the things that are on TV most night. We had the nicest tour guide ever, he was such a lovely and funny man and definitely made the tour. We got to see all of the sets inside so things like the Rovers Return where you got to have your photo taken behind the bar, also inside the Platts house aswell as so many more. There was also the chance to see the casts dressing rooms, and their was the costume department so we could see iconic outfits and wedding dresses worn by the cast. There was so much to it and it was so interesting to see everything up close. After the tour indoors and watching a few videos we then got to go out onto the street and have as much time as wanted exploring. We got so many pictures of all the houses, the rovers return, the bistro etc, there are a few more on this post here if you're interested but there are also a few on my Instagram if you scroll that far back!

It was just such an interesting and exciting thing to do and I'm so glad we went. It was weird to be walking around this iconic set that had been used for so long and knowing that it was soon to be built over, but I'm so glad they gave people that opportunity to go and see it.

I have so many lovely memories from all of our trips to Manchester and I love going back and reading all of the posts I've done on the place. It's heartbreaking whats happened there recently, it's just one of the best places and it's so sad to see things like this keep happening. It's not put me off going back in future though, I definitely want to head back for a few days at some point soon because it's such a special place to us.

Did you get chance to go on the Coronation Street tour? If so, what did you think?
